Did you ever ride a bike near a river, lake or ocean and just wish that you continue on over the blue waters? With the Hydrofoiler™ XE-1 from Manta5, you can do just that. Manta5 has created the world’s first hydrofoil e-bike that recreates the experience of pedal cycling but on and over the water’s surface. The world of cycling just received a seismic shift.
Easy launch from the water
Some look at the Hydrofoiler XE-1 and wonder how and when you’d get started. You can launch it from the beach, from a jetty or even from deep water. The IPX8-rated electric motor and battery housing system are fully submersible and with the power-assisted pedal system you can literally pedal the e-bike up and above the water before letting the carbon fiber hydrofoils kick in and help the bike cut through any body of water and even some waves.
Lightweight but resilient
The XE-1 hydrofoil e-bike includes an aircraft-grade TIG-welded 6061-T6 aluminum frame that’s resistant to corrosion and perfect for use on both fresh and salt water. Its drivetrain features many industry-standard components, which means maintenance, part replacement will always be easy and accessible. The craft’s buoyancy modules streamline the Hydrofoiler both under and over the water. The rear carbon fiber wing span measures 6.5 feet, and the front is 4 feet. Their unique design cuts through water and minimizes drag.
Innovative electric assistance
The electric assist helps you to get the XE-1 from deep water or your launch point to a comfortable riding position above the water, and then helps you stay there. There are seven electric assist levels. When riders use the lowest level of electric assistance, they can ride the Hydrofoiler XE-1 for up to 4 hours on the water, or 1.5 hours when using the highest level of battery assistance. After riding, you can plug in for a full recharge inside of 4 hours. With full electric assist, you can get your speed up to 12mph (20km/h).
Portable waterborne craft
Manta5-Water-Bike
The Hydrofoiler XE-1 opens up a world of water-based adventure for those who don’t have the space for a boat or other craft, nor a trailer to bring such a craft to the water. The XE-1 dismantles and loads into your car, and is easy to reassemble right at the waterside. You can even mount it on your roof rails. When you get used to the system, you can assemble it within two minutes.
Connected water riding
Manta5 make your Hydrofoiler XE-1 experience all the more unique and engaging by supplying every owner with their own GARMIN™ GPS watch. The watch contains Elevate™ wrist heart rate technology so you can monitor your heart rate, as well as your speed and distance during each ride. Make every ride mean something by challenging yourself each time to improve on those stats.
Pricing and availability
The Manta 5 XE-1 is set to change the way we think about traveling over water. It’s available to buy right now and currently costs $US8,990 before shipping and taxes.
Startup
A startup or start-up is a company or project undertaken by an entrepreneur to seek, develop, and validate a scalable business model. While entrepreneurship refers to all new businesses, including self-employment and businesses that never intend to become registered, startups refer to new businesses that intend to grow large beyond the solo founder. At the beginning, startups face high uncertainty and have high rates of failure, but a minority of them do go on to be successful and influential. Some startups become unicorns; that is privately held startup companies valued at over US$1 billion.
Actions
Startups typically begin by a founder (solo-founder) or co-founders who have a way to solve a problem. The founder of a startup will begin market validation by problem interview, solution interview, and building a minimum viable product (MVP), i.e. a prototype, to develop and validate their business models. The startup process can take a long period of time (by some estimates, three years or longer), and hence sustaining effort is required. Over the long term, sustaining effort is especially challenging because of the high failure rates and uncertain outcomes. Having a business plan in place outlines what to do and how to plan and achieve an idea in the future. Typically, these plans outline the first 3 to 5 years of your business strategy.
Design principles
Models behind startups presenting as ventures are usually associated with design science. Design science uses design principles considered to be a coherent set of normative ideas and propositions to design and construct the company's backbone. For example, one of the initial design principles is "affordable loss".
